How it works
- Pick how many spot colors you want to flatten the art to. 2 to 8.
- We quantize the image with a median-cut style extractor - the same algorithm the rest of the app uses for color extraction, so the spots are stable.
- We assign every pixel to its closest centroid by RGB distance, then encode one PNG per centroid showing exactly where that screen prints.
- You get HEX / RGB / CMYK / nearest Pantone for every color, plus a coverage percentage so you know which screen runs first on press.
What this is and isn't
This is a preview tool - perfect for sanity-checking your color count before you quote, building a mockup for a customer, or showing a screen-printer roughly how the file will separate. It is not a production-grade separator for halftones, gradients, or process-color simulated CMYK. For those, send the file to your decorator's art department.
