Promotional products for craft breweries

A craft brewery is a retail customer that happens to need promo. The taproom merch wall is a real revenue line, often 10-15% of total sales for a small brewery. The orders come in patterns: a tee design every quarter, glassware for festival season, hats year-round, stickers as the constant. Get the blanks and the pricing right and you become the brewery's entire merch operation.

The blanks the brewery scene actually uses

Tees: Bella+Canvas 3001 in heather and earth tones, Next Level 6210 for fitted, Comfort Colors 1717 for the vintage-pigment look that brewery customers love. Hats: Richardson 112 trucker is the genre standard - skip the structured 6-panel cap. Hoodies: Independent Trading SS4500. Glassware: 16oz pint, willi-becher, snifter, and shaker pint - real glassware, not branded plastic.

Koozies: foam slap-style, neoprene, and the new molded silicone ones. Stickers: die-cut vinyl, weather-resistant, in the 3-4 inch size that fits on a Yeti.

The pricing math the brewery thinks about

Breweries retail tees at $25-30 and need a wholesale price under $10 to make the math work. That puts your wholesale to them at $7-9 with screen print included. They retail glassware at $8-12 and need wholesale at $3-4. Build the relationship around hitting these numbers consistently, not on chasing margin per piece. Volume is where this account pays.

Consignment vs purchase

Some breweries buy outright. Some want consignment - they pay you when the merch sells, not when it ships. Consignment works only if you trust the brewery to pay and the volume is high enough to be worth the cash-flow drag. Many distributors split the difference: first order is a cash purchase, repeat orders move to a 50% deposit and 50% on delivery.

A brewery account is a retail-merch operation that thinks like a wholesaler. Get the blanks dialed, pace the reorder cadence to the season, and the account becomes a six-figure relationship over a couple years.
